I think a lot about how Edward being unable to read Bellas mind could have meant that she was immune to vampirism in general and that at the end of twilight she would have gotten bit and it would have hurt like hell but like…nothing would happen. The venom would just not do anything to her whatsoever. And then there would be a very quiet flight home where everyone would realize that Bella will definitely die and she will either break up with Edward or she will be dating a 17 year old all her life. And yeah, on paper Edward didn’t want to change her but I think he always had that possibility in the back of his mind as a safety net and without it the entire dynamic of the relationship would change.
